On May 22, 2026, the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA) unanimously adopted a resolution on Global Action to Advance Health Equity for People with Hemophilia and Other Bleeding Disorders. The WHO Resolution Global Action to Advance Health Equity for People with Hemophilia and Other Bleeding Disorders marks a historic milestone for the global bleeding disorders community. As the first World Health Organization resolution dedicated to haemophilia and other bleeding disorders, it recognises these conditions as a global public health priority and calls on Member States to strengthen national health systems to ensure equitable access to timely diagnosis, comprehensive care, safe and effective treatment, and rehabilitation services. The Resolution also highlights the importance of sustainable plasma systems, robust health information and surveillance, healthcare workforce training, research, and meaningful engagement with patient organisations. By providing an internationally endorsed framework for action, the Resolution empowers governments, healthcare providers, and civil society to work together to reduce inequalities in care and improve the quality of life for all people living with bleeding disorders.
